To realize the process of self-mummification, one must fully commit to the several year suicide vital to preparing the body for any substantial form of preservation. During this time sustenance is limited to pine needles, tree bark and salt water, drying the flesh and causing secretions from the skin to act as a form of natural insect repellent. To endure the pains of starvation and dehydration while holding the body still, one must enter a state of deep meditation with the goal of inducing full on suspended animation, moving nothing as if an embryo floating in the womb.

Around 18 weeks of gestation, the infant will hear its first sounds.
